PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

• It is highly recommended that all DPC programs be recompiled with the latest version of DPCEdit.
• DataPlus Professional is not fully Microsoft Vista compatible unless these additional steps are performed.
• The help system invoked from the Application Generator is not viewable unless the Windows Help program is downloaded. This is available at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148. However, the PDF manuals are still viewable with Adobe Acrobat.
• The DOS-based test application invoked from the Application Generator is not functional without a DOS emulator (such as DOSBox), so testing of the application on the PC cannot be performed.
• When registering, type in “trial” for the serial number on the PC.
• For the handheld, press the Demo Mode Button.

Issues addressed in v3.xx from v2.50.0:

CE Host:

• The “duplicate icons” issue when installing the hand-held software on PocketPC’s has been corrected.
• On an update/repair operation, the DataPlus icon is restored to where it should be; this helps in cases where the hand-held loses its registry (and hence Desktop icon, for instance).

DPCEdit:

• Variables are now allocated on 8-byte boundaries in the data segment so as to correctly support DPC execution with version 3 of the hand-held software.

Generator:

• v2.50.1 introduced an error in saving flow control information. This has been corrected.
• Added checking for pre-version 3 DPC programs, as it is recommended that older programs be recompiled. Warning messages are given to the user if older DPC programs exist that haven’t yet been compiled with version 3 of DPCEdit.

Handheld:

• DPTest, DPP_EDIT, and the DOS and CE hand-held software has been modified to work with older DPC programs as well as DPC programs compiled with version 3 of DPCEdit. This corrects issues with global variables not being initialized to zero.

Installation Instructions for new DataPlus Professional DOS/CE users who do not have other versions of DataPlus Professional already installed on their computer. Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Manager should be installed prior to installing this demo package if using Windows CE handhelds. This is a free download from Microsoft.

The DataPlus Professional DOS/CE demonstration version has full functionality on the PC for 30 days but has limited capabilities on the hand held. On the hand held, the demo mode will run 10 times and it only allows one dataset per application to be collected at one time with 10 lines maximum per branch file.

PC Compatibility

The minimum requirements are as follows:

• An IBM compatible PC with an 80486 or greater processor
• Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP
• 32 MB of RAM
• 30 MB of free hard disk space
• SVGA or greater video (800 x 600 resolution), 256 or greater color setting

Windows CE-based Handheld Compatibility

The minimum requirements are as follows:

• An 80486, StrongARM-compatible, MIPS, or XScale-compatible processor
• Screen dimension of at least 320×240 or 240×320
• Windows CE v3.x, Windows CE.NET 4.x, Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile Second Edition, Windows Mobile 5.1, or Window Mobile 6.1
• 32MB of RAM
• 1MB of free storage space

• DOS 3.1 or greater
• 540k of free RAM
• 500k of free disk storage space

To install the PC software…
Download the “DPPSetup.exe” file into an empty directory or Open (Run) it from its current location.

When installing:
If saved to a local directory, from inside Windows Explorer double click on “DPPSetup.exe” to install the files. Follow the instructions from the setup wizard.

When registering, type in “trial” for the serial number on the PC.

For the handheld, press the Demo Mode Button.

DataPlus MDB Converter:

DataPlus Professional Applications Generator, DataPlus Host or DataPlus Field Kit, versions 1.8 or higher, must already be installed on your PC. There is no demonstration version available for this extension to the DataPlus File Converter which is a component of the DataPlus Host. If needed, please call our DataPlus tech support personnel with questions prior to purchase at 1-208-595-1175.

This module must be purchased separately from the DataPlus Professional Package, DataPlus Host, or DataPlus Field Kit.

DataPlus Professional Software Patch For DOS Versions Prior to v2.0 (v1.85)

Issues addressed in v1.85 from v1.84:

• DPTest, DPP_EDIT, and the DOS hand-held software has been modified to work with older DPC programs as well as DPC programs compiled with version 3 of DPCEdit. This corrects issues with global variables not being initialized to zero.

Installation Instructions for existing DataPlus Professional DOS only users who want to update their older versions of DataPlus Professional DOS only to the most current DOS version available.

This DataPlus Professional patch is ONLY for versions PRIOR to 2.0 (1.52, 1.71 etc.). It will NOT patch any version 2.0 or later installations. It will NOT patch any DataPlus CE components. It will update all installed DataPlus Professional files if they are versions prior to 2.0. The same patch is used for all registered DataPlus components including Host and the handheld Files.
